Fiesta like there’s no mañana with this fun Cinco de Mayo activity flag book! I like to have my students complete some or all of the activities throughout the day and then surprise them by saving the Mexican Flag Cover Page and “craft” part of the activity for last.

Papel picado means perforated paper; Paper that has holes in it. Papel picado is

traditional Mexican folk art featuring intricate designs cut into brightly colored paper or plastic sheets. They are then hung up as decorative banners for celebrations, like Cinco de Mayo! There are two options for completing this craftivity:

• 4 full-size pennants (suggestion: provide one for each child to create a collaborative class banner to decorate your room or a bulletin board)
• 4 mini pennants for each student to create their own mini papel picado banner
