Parents are always asking me for ways to have their kids practice their sight words. Flash cards have always been a go-to strategy…but a somewhat boring one to be honest! This booklet gets your kiddies involved in the creation of “home-made” flash cards in order to make the process more hands-on and enjoyable.
As a teacher, I have students work through the booklet as extra practice as I gradually introduce new sight words each week. Tracing and colouring the word not only helps with recognition and spelling, but also supports proper letter formation and fine motor development.
These booklets are great for keeping in the classroom for extra practice (one way I like to use them is as a “fast finisher” activity by having kids grab their booklet and quiz either themselves or a friend), or for sending home. Either way, I hope your kiddies enjoy their hand-made booklet as much as mine do!
