Father’s Day ideas & FREE Prank Card!

Mark your calendars, people! Father’s Day is on Sunday, June 15th this year, which means that your gifts and cards need to be ready to go home on FRIDAY, JUNE 13th. That’s right. Friday the 13th. Let’s be those people who think that day is GOOD luck, okay?

But seriously, don’t worry, I’ve got your back and this is going to be the smoothest, rush-free holiday ever because I have lots of fun and easy gift and card ideas to get us both through 😉

1. Newspaper Article

This has gotta be the easiest option out there. Print out a template, draw a picture, check the boxes, and fill in the blanks. DONE ✅

The inclusive options ensure that every child feels proud to celebrate the special father-figure in their lives.

2. Easy Hold-It-All Gift

Don’t stress over complicated, time-consuming gift ideas that will likely just end up in the landfill (harsh, but true 🙈). This one already was bound for the recycling plant so you’re doing the world a favour by repurposing an empty tin can for a simple, cute, and USEFUL Father’s Day gift!

Just print out the tin wrap, cut, colour, glue on, and you’re DONE! You can also attach the poem AND I like to include a chocolate treat for each student to tuck in to the tin to make it extra sweet 😉

3. FREE Gift Card Prank

Over TEN YEARS AGO I wrote this blog post about a last-minute Father’s Day card that I pulled out of my *** but it ended up being a total hit 🤣 SO, I decided to bring it back… bigger and better than ever!

Just fold a piece of paper in half (hamburger-wise), cut out and glue on the tie and pocket templates, and add one of the pre-designed gift cards OR create your own!

There are 3 ways to use the templates. The first two are printed on coloured paper. 1 is left as-is and 2 used colour paper but added some details. 3 is the fully custom option; print on white paper, glue, on to a white card, and decorate however you’d like! Back when I did this with my kiddos, they got pretty creative with their designs 👇

Home Depot & Canadian Tire gift cards are included, as well as 2 options for blank templates so students can get creative and design their own. 🍺 Beer Store gift card? ⛳ Golf Town? 🥓 Beef Jerky Bulk Store? 🥸 Mustache Warehouse? The sky is the limit!!!

Don’t forget to write “Just kidding!”, “GOTCHA!”, or something along those lines to really burst Dad’s bubble 😆

4. Dad’s Desk Pet Gift

If you’re actually on the ball 👏 and remember to prep for Father’s Day earlier than the day before (or, let’s be serious, sometimes the day of 🤦‍♀️), then THIS is such a sweet yet hilarious gift option that your kids will LOVE to give to dad.

Students can pick whether they will be morphed into a cat or a dog, then you can digitally-input their picture into the PowerPoint template. Then, kids will glue together and decorate a craft stick frame to display the final printed photo. This one definitely takes a bit more time to prep but it’s such a fun gift that will definitely grace dad’s desk for years to come!

While some kids like to get creative and take a full 60 minutes to decorate a card, others are done and over it in a flash 💥 And, as you know, unstructured time often = opportunities for behaviour & disruptions. So that’s why I’ve included some fun themed activities to keep those little hands and minds busy!
