This EGGciting FREEBIE is NOT just for Easter! Kiddos will LOVE cracking open plastic eggs in order to complete this activity, and YOU will love that they’re practicing their sight words!
This activity can be used as a slightly more active Write the Room activity or as a stationary Word Work center activity. The instructions on the picture pages suggest that you “put each card in a plastic egg” (you know, the ones you hide chocolates in at Easter?!) so that the kids get to CRACK open each egg to “crack the code” inside. Kids will then look closely at their selected picture card and record the first letter sound of each picture on the card on the worksheet provided in order to spell a mystery sight word.
TIP: you can also have students simply record their words on a whiteboard rather than the worksheet.
